Focus on youth wellbeing more urgent than ever

NewsAverage youth mental wellbeing scores dropped between 2018 and 2021, continuing a longer-term decline, and in 2022/23, one in five 15 to 24-year-olds experienced psychological distress. This is higher than other age groups, and it has risen over time.

Pressure on addiction treatment services highlighted

NewsIn 2023/24, around 45,000 people accessed addiction treatment services, 5,000 fewer than five years earlier. Referrals have also dropped, down 14.6% in 2023/24 compared with the peak in 2020/21.
