Te Hiringa Mahara has produced a series of short reports during 2022 and 2023 to add our collective understanding of the wellbeing impacts of the pandemic and to provide key insights on wellbeing areas or populations of focus.

Wellbeing data is sourced from the General Social Survey (GSS), Te Kupenga (TK), the Household Economic Survey (HES), the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and Ministry of Education administrative data (MoE) using datasets from 2018 – 2024.

Since our establishment in February 2021, we have continued to act in our role as a kaitiaki of mental health, addiction and wellbeing. We have built a strong knowledge base and our reports, and other work, are highly valued by our key stakeholders.

The focus is on post-2010 unless a study had specific relevance. 274 studies were included, of which 39 focus on Indigenous approaches.  The assessment was on the highest level of evidence, where possible using systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
