    We participated in forums organised by the World Federation for Mental Health and the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership (IIMHL). We met visiting IIMHL CEO Steve Appleton alongside Le Va colleagues in early November.

    This literature scan forms part the ongoing Te Hiringa Mahara work programme examining effective crisis response systems. We will be reporting on this work later in 2025, with a monitoring report, and expect these findings to inform future service design and improvements.

    We supported many ways for people to share feedback such as via email, LinkedIn, mail, voice message, video, online survey forms, and online meetings to ensure the framework and six-week consultation process was accessible as possible to everyone, especially our priority population groups.

    Referrals have also dropped, down 14.6% in 2023/24 compared with the peak in 2020/21. And the percentage of declined referrals has almost doubled over the last five years from 4.7% of total referrals in 2019/20 to 8.6% in 2023/24.
